Hello Thomas,
I don’t know if you remember me: we met at the stable isotope conference in Honolulu two years ago, when I was still a postdoc in Marseille and you were still in Alaska. My wife and I now also moved to Kiel, where she took an assistant position at the Biotower and where I for now have a 6-month postdoc in the group of Thorsten Reusch (Evolutionary Ecology of Marine Fishes).
It would be nice to see you sometime, and I would love to see the isotope facilities where you are working. Let me know if you are in town and up to a meeting.

Lavinia, sadly I haven’t made much progress with my German yet since I find excuses all the time to spend time on my research instead. But eventually I’ll get to it.
Weather sounds lovely in SC. Hope to visit you some time in the new year. Hope you’re well.
This week I’m in Tirol, the Austrian part, for a workshop. It’s really beautiful.

In fact, Kiel is a very nice place to live. It’s by the sea, the town is clean and tidy and the parks are wonderful. But it does have the beauty and vast greatness of Alaska but you cannot have it all.
